5 Places for Drinking Bubble Tea in Milan
Until not a long time ago it was unknown to the masses, but now bubble tea is the drink of the moment in Milan, a little bit like matcha. Still, it is not always so easy to find in the city, besides Chinatown. Here are 5 places for some good bubble tea!
Let’s start from the basis: bubble tea is a hot or cold beverage (mostly cold), with tapioca bubbles and Taiwanese fruit syrups. Due to its origins it is very easy to find it in Milan’s Chinatown, Via Paolo Sarpi. One of the places selling bubble tea is my favourite: QQTea, right in front of other places I love (starting from Otto and the Ravioleria, without forgetting the Oriental Mall). You can choose from several types of tea (black, green, with milk), the base flavour (mango, ginger, strawberry for example) and some pearls (tapioca, but also fruit). It is refreshing, cheap (3.50€), and yummy!
QQTEA. Via Paolo Sarpi 47, Milan. Open every day from 10 to 21.
Open by two Italian guys who love bubble tea, Mister Tea is located in Piola, close to the Politecnico, in a spacious place where you can either take away or enjoy it at the table. You can find an endless variety of combinations of fruit syrups, creams and toppings (also matcha flavoured!) and have fun combining your bubble tea, that costs 3.90€. In addition to bubble tea they also have frozen yogurt. Is this too much to choose from? Don’t worry the staff are super nice and will help you make the right choice!
MISTER TEA. Via Giovanni Pascoli 60, Milan. +39 329 5676633. Open every day (Mon to Fri 10.30-19.30 Weekends 14-19).
Frankly is in the very center of Milan, at a stone’s throw from the Duomo, and you will notice it by the queue outside, especially on weekends. It is perfect for take out given the tiny dimensions of the place. In addition to serving bubble tea (3.50€) they also have good tea and coffee, either hot or cold, and snacks, among which the bubble waffle!
FRANKLY. Via Orefici 5, Milan. +39 02 45497808. Open every day from 10 to 21.
Chateau Dufan is a very cute café/gelateria located in Via Paolo Sarpi and they offer the typical cones, milkshakes and yogurt tea. And bubble tea obviously! Service is not perfect but it is ok for a break in Chinatown!
CHATEAU DUFAN. Via Paolo Sarpi 2, Milan. +39 02 34534113. Open every day from 7 to midnight.
Located close to the red metro Porta Venezia stop, Boba is a tiny but cozy place whose main offer is bubble tea. One cup costs 3.50€ and it differentiate itself with the super kind staff. A tip: beside the classic tapioca the have fruit jellos and poppings, jellies that pop in your mouth!
BOBA. Via Rosolino Pilo 9, Milan. +39 02 20241436. Open from Tuesday to Sunday (T-W-T 10-20, F-S 12-1, S 14-20).
