Where to Eat Chinese Dumplings in Milan
Dumplings mon amour! I don’t care if they are steamed or grilled, with meat or vegetables. I literally go crazy for dumplings! I already wrote about some of my favourite restaurants in Milan where you can enjoy Chinese dumplings: the ones with ethnic food, the Korean restaurants, the Chinese ones and furthermore Dim Sum and Pasta B.
This month Foodora chose me as ambassador for the Good Food Tour project, a tour of the best restaurants in the city in search of the ‘perfect dumpling’. The next episode will be coming soon (follow it on social media with the hashtags #goodfoodtour and #cipensaFoodora), in the meantime discover three Milan restaurants where you can enjoy fantastic Chinese dumplings!
Our tour started at this tiny restaurant in Via Porpora, in the Loreto area, a place I hadn’t unbelievably tried before and which turned out to be love at first sight. Surrounded by Mao graffiti on the walls at the entrance you will only hear Chinese language here: we were the only westerners and for me this is always a good sign. Once you are seated you will be amazed by all types of dumplings: vegetarian, with meat, with fish, served with super spicy sauces too…a must try!
MAO HUNAN. Via Porpora 5, Milan. +39 02 4978 7361. Open every day from 11:30am to 10pm.
A fantastic and absolutely traditional atmosphere can be found at Shangri-La, a restaurant in the Porta Venezia area that offers exotic Chinese and Thai food. Take a seat at one of the beautiful tables and indulge in the big variety of dumplings and share them with your friends (the more you try the better!). My favourite dishes here? The meat dumplings with ginger and the squid ink and seabass dumplings!
SHANGRI-LA. Via Lazzaretto 8, Milan. +39 02 29510837. Open every day (11:30am-3pm and 6:30pm-11:30pm) except on Tuesdays.
MI-CUCINA DI CONFINE
I already wrote about Mi-Cucina di confine some time ago, telling you about their amazing beef and truffle dumplings. You can try a big variety of dim sums at this restaurant located below the three brand new skyscrapers, Tre Torri, of the skyline in the Fiera area. The ambience is very chic, which is also a plus!
MI-CUCINA DI CONFINE. Viale Cassiodoro 5, Milan. +39 02 48513745. Open every day (12pm-2:30pm and 7pm-11:30pm) except on Mondays.
