It has been a little more than a year since Amami opened in the area of Porta Nuova’s skyscrapers, a restaurant, pizzeria and café that offers breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner from morning till night. Here the passion and dedication of the staff is a plus that is going to add up to high quality ingredients, exquisite dishes and a very elegant location. Amami is set to be a truly loved place! Are you curious to find out how the food is? Here’s a look at the dinner!
Looking for more information on the web we read that the pizza here is “unusual”. Eager to try it immediately we decided to share a margherita with mozzarella di bufala as a starter and the choice couldn’t be better: the dough is crisp and easy to digest and this is due to the absence of yeast and the use of untreated flour such as kamut, spelt, millet and cereals. The result is an oval pizza that will satisfy you without weighing you down. You’ll be really surprised!
We continued with a first course, delicious ravioli stuffed with goat cheese and black truffle, with melted mountain butter, crispy sage and raspadura of Grana Padano.
As a second course we shared a fillet of grilled Fassone in Smith apple sauce with crisps: the meat-apples combination proves to be very interesting and balanced and the fillet melts in our mouth like butter!
Our dinner ended with a taste of tiramisu and a fresh lemon with crispy basil sorbet. The proposals of the menu are all appealing and sophisticated, all the ingredients are high quality, they follow the season and their origin is controlled and tracked. Moreover, the dishes are good to taste and they look good (although, unfortunately, the pictures don’t do them justice because of the very soft light).
Amami is located on a pedestrian street in the shadow of the Porta Nuova skyscrapers, one of the coolest areas between Porta Garibaldi, Isola and Varesine. It is very easy to reach by public transport as the stop Piazzale Principessa Clotilde is right in front (tram 10 and 33, bus 43), and the Garibaldi stop of the green and purple metro is at less than 10 minutes walk. Arriving by car is also an option, there are some parking spots close by.
It may be for the presence of the skyscrapers, but dining in the outdoor area feels like being in New York. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a minimalist style with dark tones that wrap you in a soft and refined atmosphere, perfect for both a romantic dinner and a night with friends.
The pizzas cost between 6.50 and 10 euros, whereas if choosing from the restaurant menu starters are around 15 euros, the first courses cost between 10 and 15 euros, while the second courses cost between 16 and 28. To sum up, for a good dinner you will spend about forty euros, a price that is in line with the area, even taking into account the high quality ingredients and the location.
