A few weeks ago Bar Meraviglia by Sanpellegrino, inspired by the colours and flavours of the Mediterranean, opened in Milan. The bar will be open until October right in the middle of all the skyscrapers of Porta Nuova, along the path that connects Corso Como to Piazza Gae Aulenti. If you’re in the area for lunch, a snack or an aperitivo, it could be worth it to make a stop here: we tried it for a drink and now we’re here to tell you about our experience!
The highlight at Bar Meraviglia is, obviously, the great classic Sanpellegrino drinks, like bitter aranciata, limonata, cedrata and chinotto, that are served both in non-alcoholic versions in a glass bottle, or in an exciting alcoholic version. There’s no lack of creativity: here you’ll be able to try cocktails you’ve probably never tried before, like bitter Aranciata and Champagne, Chinotto and drops of Ardbeg or Cedrata and Asprigno white wine.
The place wasn’t thought out as simply a bar for cocktails: at Bar Meraviglia you can enjoy a Sicilian breakfast with super fresh brioches from the Martesana pastry shop or a light lunch with muffolette (small sandwiches typical of Sicily), big salads, couscous and cold cut dishes.
Bar Meraviglia is located along the pedestrian footbridge that connects piazza Gae Aulenti to Corso Como. The area is well serviced by public transportation (green metro line, Garibaldi stop) but, if you prefer to drive, you can count on a big indoor parking right underneath Gae Aulenti.
Bar Meraviglia certainly doesn’t lack colour: in part thanks to the orangerie, an entire wall which showcases different kinds of citrus, and in part thanks to the small vertical garden with aromatic herbs. In the middle of the room is a spacious wood counter, which delimits the space reserved to the colourful little tables and the super spacious chairs. Get comfortable!
Given its location and nice setting, one could expect a sour final note with prices. Yet it wasn’t! The prices at Bar Meraviglia aren’t super cheap but are aligned with the average in Milan: 8 euros for cocktails (although we would have appreciated a little something to snack on during the aperitivo!), 7 euros for a sandwich, 9 euros for the couscous, and 7/8 euros for salads.
