Milan has been showing some Californian vibes recently. We are talking about Fancytoast, a small place located in the Moscova area that has very soon become Milan’s kingdom of the typical San Francisco toast. What’s so special? First of all the bread, a single thick slice that is crispy outside and soft inside, topped with colourful and healthy ingredients. What else? American coffee, cheerful and relaxed atmosphere in order to feel like we are overseas, even if just for a while!
Fancytoast’s offer is very simple: a short list of toasts, 5 of which savory (salmon, avocado and eggs, avocado and radish, peanut butter and red cabbage, shrimps), 3 sweet ones (banana, strawberries or mixed berries) and 3 “simple” ones (nutella, butter and jam or peanut butter), combined with three types of juices (detox, energizing, antioxidant), lemonade and pompelmonade “fancy drinks”, beer or just American coffee, the latter with free refill.
We tried the two great classics: the Epic Avocado Toast with avocado mash, egg, pink pepper berries and aroma of lime and the West Salmon Toast with soft cream, smoked salmon, passion fruit puree, soy balls and marjoram perfume, accompanied by the purple chips with beetroot sauce (delicious!). The toast is well-stocked and tasty, the ingredients seem fresh and well prepared, as well as healthy …we wanted to try them all!
Fancytoast is located in via Alessandro Volta, in the heart of the Moscova area. It is easily accessible by the green metro line (Moscova stop) or by bus (43 and 94). It gets more difficult to reach it by car, so hurray for public transport!
The atmosphere is cozy – helped by the very small size of the room – and relaxed, thanks to the super friendly staff. Behind the counter you can see the fuchsia neon sign that reads “Epic toast from west coast”, while the tiles on the walls create a pleasant two-tone effect. We recommend the place for a lunch break, because at the moment there are no tables but only counters with stools.
The cost of savory and sweet toasts varies from 5.45 to 6.45 euros each, while the “basic” ones cost 2.95. By ordering a single toast and a drink (the price of a mini juice is crazy, 5 euros) the bill should not exceed ten euros, but it of course depends on how many toasts will be enough to quench your hunger!
