Lile In Cucina (which translates to Lile in the kitchen) is a gem. In Milan’s Indipendenza area, among flowers and candles, it is the perfect place for a dinner with your sweetheart or your girlfriends. We tried it and we fell hard for the owners Ilenia (whose nickname is Lile) and Tommaso’s delicate kindness and for the cozy and genuine atmosphere! Here is how food is at Lile!
Lile in Cucina’s style originates from the encounter of two cooks: the young Alessio, who proposes creative and original dishes such as the white almond gazpacho with shrimps, Granny Smith apples and lemon zest or the crunchy millefeuille with codfish and pepper ketchup, and Mrs.Gina, Ilenia’s mum, who makes the more traditional dishes with love, such as the eggplant parmigiana, paccheri pasta with tomato sauce and burrata cream, fried courgette flowers or the delicious shortcrust tarts.
We tried the juniper myrtle marinated rabbit meat salad with mustard, of which we loved the well balanced contrast of ingredients and flavours and the super, both in terms of flavour and quantity, eggplant parmigiana and grass pea hummus, with a delicate red onion saor, courgette and lemon confit. As for the drinks, at Lile you can choose from a well selected list of wines or have a cocktail.
Lile in Cucina, with dimmed lights and wooden tables, is the ideal place for a slow-paced and relaxing evening, far from the crazy rhythms of the city. The restaurant, which is very nicely decorated with small details such as fresh flowers and cooking books, is elegant and cozy at the same time. Oh, don’t forget to make a reservation before getting there, seen the dimensions of the restaurant and the excellent food.
Lile in Cucina is located in via Guicciardini, in the Indipendenza area, at a short distance from Piazza Tricolore, a stop for trams n9 and n23. You can reach the restaurant by car too, although finding parking could be a little difficult since it is a residential area.
For a starting dish, a first course and a dessert you will spend around 35 euros at Lile in Cucina, make it 40 euros if you add a glass of wine. Considering the quality, the portions and the environment, the bill is in line with Milanese standards.
So, are you going to try it?
