You know me by now and you know that I like studios and ateliers, especially if they are ‘secret’ ones. Among the places that I absolutely love in Milan there is Massimo Molina‘s atelier. Massimo is a creative designer born between balls of wool and threads and then turned into a consultant for some of the most popular fashion brands, who has his showroom in via Dezza where he shows and sells the pieces of his own design.
The advantage is, of course, all about the price: pieces that you would pay with much higher prices in a store are sold here at much favorable prices. But it is not just that. This studio is comfortable – located in an apartment in a nice building behind Park Solari – and the two owners, Massimo himself and Filippo, know how to make shopping a very relaxing experience. Not to mention that those clothes are just wonderful.
Is there anything better than being taken care of during your shopping session with kindness, courtesy and without being too intrusive? Massimo and Filippo have all of these three qualities. They will welcome you with a smile and some coffee or a glass of bubbles depending on the time of the day and they will offer precious advice on clothing. The collection, both winter and summer one, presents several pieces and, most importantly, an endless array of colours, the distinctive feature of Molina’s pieces.
Handmade knitwear, multicolour palettes and special attention to details. Cashmere arrives directly from Mongolia and is worked by Italian artisans wit no use of chemicals. Isn’t this a reason enough? Add to this a totally made in Italy production and the fact that you can find very different pieces: from a coat to a party dress, from soft cashmere jackets to knitted blazers! Along with colourful pieces there are also many with a more classic touch in tones of beige, grey and black: a wealth of options! And if you are looking for a present for your boyfriend or husband they also have a small man collection.
Massimo Molina’s atelier is located in a nice building close to Park Solari (if you happen to be in the area in the morning you already know where to have breakfast). Easy to reach, between the red metro stop Conciliazione and the green one Sant’Agostino. Don’t forget to call: they receive by appointment only!
The atmoshere is the one of a very nice apartment where loyal customers or those who have arrived thanks to the recommendations of friends love to hang out together: young women and especially ladies with a bold style who don’t want to renounce to a bit of colour in their wardrobes. Massimo likes to say “I dress three generations: grandmas, moms and daugthers” and from my personal experience I can say it is true!
Compared to the prices in the shop, savings are guaranteed here: they start with an entry price of 50 euros for shirts and blouses (here a pic of myself wearing one!), up to 250 euros for coats (about a half of the shop price), spacing from 80 euros for trousers and 110 for cashmere sweaters. Competitive prices that make you want to buy yourself a present!
