I admit that Peruvian food was a mistery to me before entering Pacifico, a nice restaurant in Moscova in Milan. It might be because there are not so many Peruvian restaurants in Italy and I haven’t had the chance to visit Peru either. Having lunch at this restaurant, that opened more or less one year ago, has been an actual discovery for me, and a high quality one. In the kitchen the magic happens with Jaime Pesaque, one of the most innovative and esteemed Peruvian chefs at the moment. Now my desire for palm trees, waves and South-American atmosphere is stronger than ever!
At Pacifico, Peruvian flavours are influenced by Asian traditions. The highlight of the menu is the ceviche, lemon marinated fish with spices: a dish I fell in love with when I first tried it at Temakinho. Pacifico brings you 6 different versions of ceviche: the Asian one is fantastic (with salmon and tuna, miso of leche de tigre, cucumber, sesame and crunchy seaweed) and the Amazonian one with seabass, banana, hearts of palm, hazelnuts and yuzu.
The menu also includes dim sums, pad thai and tiraditos. If you like raw food don’t miss the tiradito with raw salmon, chocio, sesame and onion: to die for!
Among the other courses on the menu there are the lobster, the causa costena (tuna, mashed potatoes and peppers) and the capon salad, a light dish with steamed salmon, cherry tometoes, Parmisan, hazelnuts and avocado.
For the drinks you can choose between wine, cocktails and the Pisco, a very special spirit!
We are in the heart of Moscova, right at the corner of Via della Moscova and Via San Marco. Super easy to reach with the green metro line and with several surface options, among which the bus 94 that stops right in front of the restaurant. The area is very nice and I have already given you some suggestions for some ‘precious’ shopping and for an aperitivo with truffles.
The design of the restaurant is very well architected. Sometimes it takes just a little to transform something elegant into something tacky. Pacifico, on the contrary, is very nicely furnished, with no exaggerations and it reminds me of the London or New York restaurants. The result is a classy place, where you can pleasantly take your time and spend some relaxing moments.
The sophisticated atmosphere, the fish based menu and the location lead to a bill that is not for every day. If you order two courses and have a drink you can easily exceed 50 euros. It might be too much considering that portions are not very big but it is still worth giving it a chance!
