Do you remember the list of my favourite cocktail bars in Milan? Rufus would definitely be on that list if it were not for the fact that it opened just recently. And not only because it finally came to fill an incomprehensible void – that of a cocktail bar or a nice place to have a drink in my area, Conciliazione. But also because it was done just the way I like it. With a beautifully decorated environment, kind service and good drinks. If you are ever in my area, head over here and get ready to relax!
Rufus has a long schedule, open from breakfast to after dinner with a break during lunchtime. I still haven’t had a chance to try out the breakfast, but a friend told me that the croissants are fantastic. If you are more interested in cocktails, I understand. The bartender and owner, Alessandro, will do anything to make you happy. The various proposals include the Pisco Sour, a cocktail made with sugar, lime, pisco, egg white and Angostura, the Cup of Life, prepared with sugar, lime, amaro, gin and soda and the American Forest, with Campari, red vermouth and soda. The drinks are changed on a daily basis anyway, and you can always pick the one you want. My favourites are those made with ginger: fresh ginger, though, and not just ginger beer… A bomb!
We are exactly halfway between the Conciliazione and Pagano metro stations on the red line, next to the famous Legnani pharmacy, where, as any good hypochondriac would do, I take care of my countless alleged aches and pains. This is my area of town, therefore if you need any further suggestions please do not hesitate to ask. I can tell you that close to Rufus you can find one of my favourite Chinese restaurants, one of my beloved second hand stores and my favourite gelato shop in Milan. I’d say you have quite a wide selection of places to visit!
The place was designed and furnished with the heart, something anyone who stops by would be able to see. Although it is small, the tables are well spaced out, and everything is brand new with a touch of warmth that doesn’t go unnoticed. Different genres are mixed in the furnishings, special pieces will attract your attention and there are flowers everywhere. The service is friendly and led by a guy I had already spoken to you about for his cocktails delivered straight to your home!
A cocktail at Rufus will cost you 8 euros. There’s also a surprise in store: between 6:00 and 7:00pm, happy hour is celebrated. If you happen to be there during that time, any day of the week, your second drink is on the house… Cheers to that!
