Relax in the Mountains at the Qc Terme in Bormio

Taking time for oneself. For 48 hours, leave all the requests you’ve been receiving from others at the door. Go back to breathing. With these three objectives in mind, I treated myself to a weekend at Qc Terme Bormio, located in the enchanting mountains of Valtellina about 3 hours from Milan. The trip isn’t the shortest for just a weekend, but once you arrive you’ll understand that it was worth it. I had already been to the Milan and San Pellegrino locations and had completely fallen in love. But Bormio, thanks to a view overlooking the valley, an altitude that in the wintertime rhymes with snow and its romantic dimension is a notch above. Discover the charming Bagni Vecchi along with me!

WHAT IT IS.  Wellness, nature, history. But mostly silence and escape. At Qc Terme of Bormio time will stand still- until it’s time to leave. There are two locations a short distance from one another, connected through a frequent shuttle service provided by the hotel: the Bagni Vecchi and the Bagni Nuovi. I went to the Vecchi, certainly the more “typical” and romantic. Don’t miss the natural cave that reaches the source of thermal water, and the outdoor rooftop pool with a priceless view overlooking the valley.

FROM THE OUTSIDE. If you are a guest of the hotel, once you arrive – maybe after a break in Morbegno for a good dish of pizzoccheri – you’ll have private parking and a super romantic hotel with 36 rooms decorated in charming mountain style.

FROM THE INSIDE. You’ll feel at home, and that’s a promise. At the baths you won’t have to worry about anything (bathrobes, towels and slippers, as well as all the bath products, will be kindly provided) other than relaxing. And even inside the hotel the atmosphere is the most intimate. Don’t miss out on having dinner at the inside restaurant, the Antica Osteria Belvedere, which brings flavourful local cuisine to the table. We ordered a cold cut and cheese antipasto from the Valtellina region, along with delicious soups. And afterwards, don’t skip the open bar full of local liquors!

THE COST. You can reserve the formula you prefer on the website: there’s the single room with breakfast and access to the baths or the package complete with dinner. The cost, obviously, varies according to whether you want to go in high or low season.
