The 5 Best Bowls in Milan: 5 Places for Trying The Dish of The Moment
Bowls, who doesn’t love bowls! They are the dish of the moment in Milan and many are trying them: sweet or savour, vegetarian or with meat, Filipino or Hawaiian, they are perfect for a light meal or as a healthy snack. Here are our 5 favourite places for enjoying them in Milan!
THE BOTANICAL CLUB
We love The Botanical Club and you know it, since we already wrote about it here. They have two locations, one in Isola and one in Tortona, but the bowls can be ordered in Tortona only for the moment, where you can find the most chic bowls in Milan: vegetarian, with meat or raw fish in the form of Hawaiian poke. Some example? The menu offers octopus poke with avocado, mayo and peanuts or the ‘veggie poke‘ with wholegrain rice, soy sauce and smoked tofu. We suggest the ‘pollo jerk‘ bowl to those who don’t fear creativity, with basmati rice, pineapple, onions, cherry tomatoes and fried platano. And guys, once you are at The Botanical you a gin tonic is a must!
THE BOTANICAL CLUB. Via Pastrengo 11, Via Tortona 33, Milan. +39 02 36523846 or +39 02 4232890. Opening hours on the website.
Soulgreen has recently opened in Garibaldi and everybody is raving about it. The bowls are all vegan and super original here. This is a healthy and green place and you can both find sweet (such as the ‘mama chia bowl’ with chia seeds, cocoa and coconut milk) and savoury bowls, ispired by different part of the world, also in the ‘soup‘ version! The ‘Libanese bowl‘ is among our favourites, with quinoa, mixed veggies, dried tomatoes, chickpeas and cilantro, along with the ‘Greek bowl‘ with grape leaves, red rice, cucumbers and mint and the ‘rainbow raw bowl‘, a raw mix of courgettes, red cabbage and blueberries!
SOULGREEN. Piazzale Principessa Clotilde corner Via Vespucci, Milan. +39 02 62695162. Open Mon-Sat (12-16 and 18-23), Sun (10-22).
We wrote about this little Filipino restaurant too (here all the details), especially for their excellent bowls, based on rice and fish – such as the delicious ‘shrimp sunkissed visayas‘ with sautéed shrimps, mango and coconut milk sauce – both in the meat version (with pork stew and pineapple) and the pansit version (with veggies or smoked fish). There is something for everybody!
YUM. Viale Coni Zugna 44, Milan. +39 329 611 4760. Open every day (10-15:30 and 17-22:30) except on Mondays.
Yes, you can also find great bowls in the small kingdom of matcha in Moscova. Excellent sweet and savoury bowls, either vegan (with tofu, edamame ad seaweed) or with salmon! Some matcha tea goes along very well and you will feel energized rightaway!
If you need more than matcha tea and you want to feel like a kind of Gwyneth Paltrow, you can’t miss this place in Porta Venezia. You can try sweet bowls, with yogurt, fresh fruit, super-foods and cereals, and the savoury ones (in the detox, antioxidant and protein version). And in the meantime you can relax with the background music that is studied for body and mind relaxation. Not too shabby, right?
V3RAW. Via Spallanzani corner Viale Regina Giovanna, Milan. +39 02 29514295. Open Mon-Fri (8-19.30), Sat (10-19.30) and Sun (11.30-19).
